22# EAudio Books

I think this is a great idea for libraries. I have had some people, especially older people who know how to use technology ask about ebooks. It would be good to offer this service. One benefit is we could offer many more books instead of just having only a few talking books in the library.

Of course there is the issue of patrons having to get a computer in the first place and having a reliable internet connection.

21# Podcasts

I looked at Itunes because I didnt want to install any software for podcasts since I wont be using this.

Yahoo podcasts doesnt seem to exist anymore so I had to look around a bit, thats how I ended up with itunes, I added an RSS Feed for this but i dont think i will be needing it. If I wont to look at it (which wont be often) I can just go to the website. I also added a feed for another library podcast. It didnt seem to work though, Im guessing its because I dont have the software installed but I was able to read what it was about.

I guess this would be good for libraries to show what we have to offer and to show the public that we are up with the technology times!

14# Technorati

Ive looked at this and I think its a pretty good idea. At first I didnt think I would want to look at other peoples blogs but they can be very informative.

There are blogs on things like technology of course so it helps to look at what other people are blogging about. I dont think I would add my blog on there though. If I want information I will still just use google to look for things. If a blog comes up about the subject I want I will look at it but want bother going to technorati directly.

7# Technology

I want to talk about Google Maps.

I love it! I especially love the new street maps. I can be a stalker ha ha. Its fun to look at friends houses and my own house. Of course its a worry that anyone can do this so there are privacy issues. I think this is not such a big problem though because you cant see peoples faces and cars numbeer plates are blocked out.

I sometimes use Google maps for directions to places, it tells me how long it will take to get there which i like, of course its not completely right because you have to look at changes to roads and how you drive!

This is one of the things I will continue to use after Web 2.0 finishes though.

13# Tagging - Delicious

Ok so I think I'm a bit confused with the numbers but I'm sure Christian can figure it out.

Ive been looking at Delicious and I think its a pretty good idea. I can see the benefits of looking at what others have tagged and bookmarked. you dont have to go through everything yourself, you just go to what others have tagged and go from there. There is a lot of tagged sites on libraries and technology so its pretty good. I just dont have the time to look at everything but its interesting to see whats out there.

10 Image Generators

This was fun to do after I found some things that worked without having to subscribe. ( no passwords to remember)

I like that you can play with your own photos. I think I'll use this stuff again and play around with some photos.

8 RSS FEEDS

This was very hard to do. The hard part was trying to put the feeds on my Blog but I eventually managed it with the help of a co-worker. I guess this is good for people who go through a lot of websites and only want the updates but I dont see myself using it.

Future of libraries

I've read a few perspectives on web 2.0, Library 2.0 and the future of Libraries and my thoughts are that computers are taking over and we need to be ready for changes to libraries.I think that having self serve computers for Patrons to borrow is a great idea as its quicker for them [No waiting].But you cant rely on computers 100% as sometimes they play up.Then thats when you need us staff who you can rely on.Some of our patrons come into the library for some company and a little chat but with computers taking over it makes it harder to give 100% customer service. So I think there is good and bad things about were we are heading.

Week 9 You Tube

I have looked at You Tube and I like this site. Libraries could use this to promote programs but I dont know if anyone would be interested in looking at it. Maybe they could put comedians or music up on their websites instead. Of course there is the problem of copyright so Im not sure about this.

I was going to put this video up by embeding it but it wouldnt allow me so I have posted a link to it instead. As you can see I love Cyndi Lauper so its a video of her.

Week 8 Zoho

I have tried zoho and it is good for people that need to transfer a lot of documents around. It saves on having to remember to take them and compatibility issues so its a great idea. I have tried to transfer a document on here but for some reason its not working. I will try again later.

Week 7 - Take 2 - Wikies

So this is my second blog because I couldnt remember my old password and i couldnt get into it. I have to start all over again but at least I dont have to start at number one.

I have looked at Wikipedia's and I think this is a good idea. It is done by the public usually people that work in that field which is good. It can be added to by any one and if something is wrong another member can correct it. It can be used in libraries to inform the public about library stuff.
